Well....just thinking about this about an hour ago. Either a new belt sander....PC or DeWalt...not sure yet......or.....a new Saw Zaw....Milwaukee...the big 11 amp one.
The current belt sander needs "kick started"...ya pull the trigger...and it groans...not spins...till ya ram the belt against a saw horse to start it spinning!
And the current sawzaw was made right before electricity was discovered.....get's so hot(all metal) ya gotta wear gloves for any cut longer than a few short minutes...weighs a ton....and most of all....the blade set screw is finally getting stripped...and any tight cut gets the blade stuck half way.
I gotta decide which, may need both for next week. Think I can make do better with the trusty old sawzaw...so probably a belt sander.
With the new job comes a new tool buying program.....one new tool every month! I gotta treat myself somehow! Maybe by the end of the year I can justify that door plane that I've always done without. Jeff

*Oooh, just been thinking about the LaserJamb Laser. Hard to part with $1400, but I'm thinking it might be the right choice...

*Too much to list!Has anyone used a Senco Finish Pro 25 yet? Thinking of buying SFN40 and/or FP25. Lots of archive info on the '40 but nothing on the '25.

*Well, I did get a new toy toda - Milwaukee circular saw - but that was unexpected. I think my next toy is going to be a DeWalt miter saw stand. Following that will probably be a cordless saw - the new Milwaukee 18v. We'll see in a few weeks if I live up to this post...

*I think maybe it's about time I got a new sabre saw... Mine died several years ago and I had to use my router in a pinch, been using it ever since for everything that I would have used a sabre saw for. Then again, maybe I just need to get another router.

*Hey Joel, I wasn't too sure about the Milwaukee when it first came out. I figured that the handle would snap off or something. Well, I got the chance to try one over the summer and it was nice... but I didn't need a new saw. I actually walked into Home Depot today figuring on getting a Makita, but after putting them side by side I chose the Milwaukee... much more comfortable to me. Anyways, I'm very pleased with it. Now to get the matching cordless saw.

*I just picked up a 15.6 v Panasonic drill. wow . this thing has some huevos-grandes. I have a few of the 12 volt drills & swore by Panasonics since the first day using one, but this drill is in a different league.also picked up a auto retracting air hose reel- always wanted to have these set up in my shop, but heavy price tag said no. Got this one for 130 at Lowes-50' hose included. If it is durable I'll prolly get more

*I just got a 4 inch PC belt sander. The real tool store sold me the variable speed for just a few bucks more than the big box wanted for single speed. I already like the variable- takes longer to ruin something. Now I have everything I could possibly need. Till tomorrow.

*Jeff, About the 11 amp Milwaukee Sawzall, I bought one last year (it's definetely a beast) and am pleased with its power, but the lever that allows for adjustment of the foot broke within a few weeks. It still pivots, but had no control over the foor. I tried another one at HD, and they had the same stiff action. Keep this in mind.Jon

          14. Jeff_J._Buck | May 01, 2001 11:19pm | #18

*Thanks for the tip. I had the big DeWalt awhile back......used it for one week tearing out a back porch/roof....lots of overhead cutting....and while the saw cut fine......the hole the round foot support fed into kept getting clogged....and after the first day.....I had to leave to foot completely extended.......made it tough as I was cutting wood and metal that week....rough and "kinda fibish" too! I needed the depth adjustment. I returned it and am still using the old one.......but....that's gonna die soon.....actually the thing will still run......but the adjustment screw is getting stripped....this time I think too bad for repair. It's probably close to 40 yrs old......I'll just retire it to a shelf of honor.......abd i'll have to give the Mil foot a closer look. Jeff

*Jeff, check out the Makita 3x24 beltsander. It has a wide enough base to run a 4x24 belt, but much lighter weight than the 4x24, and I like the feel and handling of the Makita 3x24 the best from what I have tried. If mine ever dies I will buy another, no question.

*This guy had a Bosch 24v cordless sawzall, very nice. I don't do very much production sawzall work, and a cordless saw would save me all kinds of time, not to mention aggravation. Usually when I have to grab the sawzall I am halfway to aggravated already.

          17. RichMast_ | May 13, 2001 03:54am | #21

*qtrmeg, have the Bosch 24V recip, too. a great thing. usually when a sawzall is needed it's only for that one board, bolt, etc, and it sure is nice not having to drag out extension cords for just one cut. the 24V has plenty of power, almost as much as my ancient corded milwaukee. a beautiful thing.next tool? who knows, i have plenty of toys already, but i'm sure something will strike my fancy soon enough. Rich.
