Hi Rusty,
Use the standard automatic garage door openner for all your parts for this dumbwaiter.
Saves you some money and works like a charm. Attache the motor mechanism so that the link chain is centered at the top, directly over the platform.
The platform only requires a post at each of the 4 corners connected at top with a center hook, kinda like a bird cage.
As the unit goes up the excess chain is lowered behind the wall, so it doesn't get tangled up.
Set the start stop for the right levels and an activator button in both basement and kitchen. Don't forget a 3 way switch (for shutoff) on both levels, as well.

Doesn't much matter, whatever your handy with, plywood, steel, etc. Like I said earlier, picture a big bird cage with one side open and a hook in the top, dead center.
Smooth out the operation with caster wheels on the sides, if you want but it's not usually required.
