Hey there I always clean my own carpets and found that the secret to it is to make sure you rinse all traces of soap out of the carpets you clean with cold water as warm or hot water will set certain stains and your carpet will end up looking worst in a month or so. So shampoo shampoo and clean, then go back over it all without soap and just cold water to rinse out all the soap shampooing has left. This is also the part where you begin seeing your efforts pay off, the water returned to the shampooer will be dirty. Shampoo also with an extractor you can find a good one at Smart N Final or Lowes, Home Depot... Good luck rinse away and let me know if it works for you, if you try it, smile.. It's a bit of work but worth it to me..
This question is always relevant. Well, if you just moved into a new apartment, I'd suggest picking professional carpet cleaners. You never know what happened at that place before you moved in. The rest depends on your budget.
