I’m a new owner of an old home and I have some windows that need reglazing. As best I can tell, glazing putty is still the preferred method but I’m curious if there have been any advances in caulk that would make it a worthwhile choice.
I found this old thread which has wonderful info but I’m curious if anything has changed in the 16 years that have since passed.
Thanks

Glazing putty is the only solution as it is formulated for this purpose. Now DAP makes glazing putty in a caulk tube but in my experience it is much to runny to work with. Stick with glazing putty
A benefit of glazing compound is to allow the lites to be repaired/ replaced multiple times without compromising bond. Using silicone caulk will make it a single use repair as nothing bonds to cured silicone, even silicone. Latex caulks would work, but they aren't durable in exterior installations.
