window height “just above the headboard’
im framing my windows in the gable ends of my upstairs wall…on the north end i want a beds headboard to sit just below the sill…
im not sure of the bed im going to use but was wondering if there is an average height for beds and the headboards..?
i framed them 39″off the floor..whadda ya think?

Sounds a little low. I would have gone to 42", or measured the bed.

Check out this site. Click on the beds and they will give you the headboard heights. They seem to start out at 48" and up.

This may or may not be something you've considered but the ugly old building code raises an important feature when it comes to sleeping areas. You've got to have, or should have, one of either an escape/rescue door that leads to the outside or a window that opens to the outside. If it's a window the sill height can't be more than 44 inches off the floor. There are required dimensions for the window if that's what you opt for. It's a safety item for what it's worth.

that is great imput i do have a bigger window that meets the egress requirementsi can always frame them up but i really wanted the acess to open the windows without having to struggle inbedand thanks for that link too
