Anyone know when safety glass is required (per 2000 international code) in residential construction? I think size of window and height above floor are considerations but don’t know for sure, and won’t be able to look at a copy for a couple of days. I know, I know, I’m finally going to buy one.
Something else, has anyone got the 2000 international code CD? Is it handier than the book?
Thanks,
Bill

Bill, Local interpretation may vary. Two other locations are in doors and sidelites/windows next to them, and windows within 36" of the inside edge of the tub in addition to those located in the tub area itself. I'm thinking windows dedicated to egress requirements might need to be tempered as well. Call your inspection dept.
*Bill,Below 60" in bath, on stairs. In side hinged doors, storm doors, sliding doors, shower or bath doors.Glass within 24" of arc of door and below 60".Glass greater than 9 square ft and below 18" and above 36" (meets all three conditions). That is the simple version but Calvin is right on checking with inspector.KK
*Thanks guys. The inspector is out of town, and none of the libraries has the new code. I ordered the new code book yesterday. Considering it's only $55, you can tell how cheap I am. Thanks again.Bill
*I bet you'd want it in skylights, too.
*also windows in stairwells
