I have for years been a high end builder appreciating the heavy wood stock of good windows such as Marvin’s “Ultimate Double Hung”. Currently I am considering the construction of a spec home. Because of the competitive nature of build then sell I am look for a window manufacturer that offers a well built product at a more competitive price. Of course I don’t want to sacrifice a lot of quality but there are so many windows on the market I thought I would look to Fine Homebuilding readers for suggestions.
I use principally double hungs and prefer all wood with clad exteriors. Any input would appreciated.

hard to beat Andersen...
especially special order " interior factory finish white "
if you don't need Hi-Performance glazing... try their "Builder's Select"
stick to the Narrow Line, unless you need "tilt-wash"
