I would like to hear some opinions on your preferences between different premium windows. We will be using casement and double hung as well as doors from the window manufacturer. Any input will help. Tripp

*Kolbe + Kolbe with K-Kron finish are the most impressive windows I've looked at in a long time. I still don't like that Pine they use on the interiors though. - jb
*Andersen windowsRoto SkylightsStanley, or Peachtree, or ThermaTru hinged doorsAndersen Perma-shield sliding doorsAndersen Frenchwood sliders and Patio doorsThose are the "take it to the bank " products we live and die with. A lot of it has to do with the distribution system in your area. Here we have two or three major distributors, supplying about 4 great contractor lumber yards, each with their own door and window shop. So we have warranty and service backup that just won't quit. Sometimes we get great products that have lousy distributors and we wind up looking like jerks because they can't deliver the product, or they deliver it wrong or damaged and then they arn't set up to handle the service. Everyone looks bad and the customer doesn't know who to blame.
*Western Skylights. I think they are made here in WA so I don't know if they are distributed nationally. They are hard to beat for the money.
*Velux is king over here (skylights). The one I put in the porch roof just for practice doesn't leak even when left open!
*For me Pella or Andersen are the standards, I'm amazed at the shape of both of these windows that i have removed on numerous jobs where they were 20 or more years old. In this area we get good backup on problems from the reps. Some of the other premium windows haven't been out there that long so i haven't got much info to draw on. Skip

Huey,
try looking into Harvey windows (vinyl). I've been
installing windows and doors for about ten years now and
the the best all around windows I've seen are the Regency
line of windows manufactured by Harvey. As for doors, my
personal choice would be Therma-Tru.
