We have been in house for several years completing it as we go.We still have problem with windows sweating. Finally got all the basement poured with vapor barrier in place.Insulation complete. We were wondering what type of dehumidifier to purchase.Free standing like the ones Lowes sells.Or a unit to install in heat pump duct?
Thanks

The best dehumidifier I have ever used was a piece of ductwork that runs up the exterior basement wall. The intake is right at floor level, and a 4" pipe or hose at the top exits the building. A small fan keeps the air moving. No buckets to dump, nothing to maintain, no breathing recycled air and with the right fan, operation is almost silent. The premise is the removal of a layer of moisture covering the concrete floor (heavy moist air will always migrate to the lowest areas).
I would also consider some outside exhausted bathroom and kitchen fans or just using the ones you have more often.

Unless you weant the continual aggravation of emptying the reservior, get one that connects to a drain line - not a duct.
