Completing a 8 x 20 covered porch framed so floor runs perpendicular to house. We are 24″ off grade, good circulation under framing and roof overhangs 6-8″ on all sides.
Was planning on 4″ face T&G mahogany with an “oil” finish (cetol or equiv)
Seeking real world advise.. have read a couple articles saying that this is a fools journey… Can’t believe this is true.. have seen 100’s of painted fir T&G installs on pre 1940 builds that still look great.

I've repaired and installed many porch floors primarily with Fir. All the details are what helps keep it looking good and lasting.
Prepainting (in your case, sealing) all surfaces, edges and cuts b/4 install are the ticket. Eventho you are using Mahog, I'd still coat all sides b/4hand. Never worked with it on porch so cannot speak on it fully.
Best of luck.
edit: Stainless fasteners would be my recommendation also. I've used stainless cleats in a PC flooring nailer most recently and liked it.

Go for it! seal the wood on all sides before putting it down, then top coat a couple more coats.

I think sealed before it goes down and resealed every couple or 3 years, it should outlast the house. Let us know, okay?
