OOPS!
My advice is to “Donate” a brand new MR. Coffee, with its
base epoxied to the countertop directly above the affected
spot. Tell the homeowner there’s no charge, you’re just a
heck of a nice guy!

Or follow crazy Jim’s advice, assuming you already
contemplated the obvious and rather undesirable third
option.
Good Luck

seamfill sticks well to bondo and home depo can get you a tube from their counter top rep. seamfill can be purchased to match any colour for about 2 dollars.

I've recently installed a laminate counter top and during the installation I accidentally put one of the wood screws in too deep which broke through the facing. The screw broke through the laminate about the size of a small finish nail. What would be the most effective way of sealing the hole from water intrusion and from getting any bigger?
*Is it a solid color, or a pattern, or what? Do you know about "seamfill"? - jb
*If it's in an inconspicuous spot, try epoxy or crazy glue.
*Thankyou for your reply. My counter top is black. No I have not heard of "Seamfill", is it something that I can pick up at Home depot/base?
*Martin - seamfill might be a brand name, or it might be a generic term, I'm not sure, but it comes in small (maybe 1 oz. tubes) in MANY different colors. Most laminate manufacturers have a chart that tells you how much of what colors (usually at least three or four) to mix to best match your laminate color. They might have "black" I don't know. Home Depot?...I don't know that either, but get on the blower and start callin' around to commercial flooring distributers until you find the one that carries the brand laminate you have and you should be able to get the mixing instructions and the seamfill there. - jb

*Seamfil is a brand name and it is manufactured by the Campbell Co. Seamfil is only good for scratches and chips through the color laminations, when the backer is exposed. It will not stick to laminate itself.Putting a screw through the laminate from the bottom is not as bad as the guy we hired(and fired) that attached a top by screwing down through the top!
*Martin:When mounting a countertop today, I thought about your post. Thanks for the "warning".
*Martin,Next time try silicone. A small dab about 12" apart. This method is much better on the back and knees...Bonus.
