I would like to install a wood ceiling made of 2-3″ random length strips of pine. I havent been able to find a vendor so I am considering ripping common wall studs across the width to yield 3 strips approximately half inch thick. The end product would have a shiplap edge and a simple bead profile. Two questions: Is this a reasonable option for an inexpensive ceiling and will the strips remain stable being face nailed every 16 inches?
