Does anyone know where I can get any sort of a 6″ in diameter oak post or column that is stain grade? It is for a fireplace surround. The customer wants to take and split them down the middle and put them on either side of the fireplace. We can’t find any posts anywhere that are stain grade that will work. They need to be around 3′ tall or taller that I can cut in half.

Replies
Most places that make colomns make splits for pilaters too. But for the size and location you are talkingabout, you might have to have them turned at a custom shop.
