Wooden Cupolas

wood_workr | Posted in Construction Techniques on April 1, 2012 07:44am

Does anyone out there in construction land know of any place where I can get

either blue prints or construction plans on the building of a wooden cupola for

on top of my garage. Nothing fancy, no windows, no copper roof.

Please include the website as well.

Thanks for your time.

      Wooden Cupolas.

To whom it may concern, ( DanH )

I couldn't help noticing your quote from Thomas Edison about the building of wooden cupolas. So in return I felt that I to should grace you with a quote of my own.

Confucius say; Man who stands around with a hole in his pocket and quoting someone famous will feel _____ all day.

          Mr. Calvin.

At this time I wood like to thank you for all the websites you have graced me with.

But, The one thing that should be noticed here is that every website that you showed me "Does not have FREE cupola plans" . Each and everyone is requesting a $um or different amount of coinola, mucho-dinaro, green back$ for their plans.

But Thank you for coming to my aide.

Hoppy Easter to You and yours.

            Mr Wood

The runner duck link is pretty straight forward.  Step by step-if you are able to build it-then you should be able to follow this one w/o a line drawing.

With the info given in just that first page of links, draw your own plan and follow that.

Pretty much zero dinero with that method.

Or keep looking, nothing is free and all that time is all you lose.

Let me ask you this-do you work, do you get paid?

          2. calvin | Apr 04, 2012 06:14am | #7

And what about the second link?

What's that one cost-click on the picture with Free Plan written under it.

I usually just buy a pair of wooden shutters, cut them dowm to use as the long sides, and plywoof for the short cheek sides, then make a roof.

If this is to be an active nevning model, you want to staple screening to the inside of the shutter and over the hole you cut in the roof

I try to size these proportionate to the building they mount, and match the roof pitch of the same, tho most cupolas get a hip roof and I make them often for gabled roofs. For the last one, I just used sheet Azec to build the roof, and painted it to match shingle colour
