Xmas gift Dewalt 745 or Ridgid Portable?
So my sister is determined to get me new portable table saw. She says “so you like the Dewalt 745 or the Ridgid?”
yes she is very cool but what do you guys think?
i am a diy’er/wannabe woodworker. i know the dewalt doesn’t accept dadoes but i was thinking of using a router for that anyways. what do you say?
thanks in advance!

I vote for the rigid.

I'll second the rigid for your purposes. It has much higher rip capacity.
The 745 is great if your moving it from job to job all the time, and the fence adjustment is nice.
tripple for the rigid
I have both. I like the Dewalt better , my guys like the ridgid better.
I think the fence is better on the dewalt and find it easier to pick up and move especially in tight quarters. The ridged comes with a nice stand but it makes it that much heavier and a bear to wrassle thru tight doorways.
Both are very good saws for portables and it is hard to beat the ridged when you consider how they have been dicounting them recently.
So my vote is "pic em"
Edit to add- I have the dw 744 which is comarable to the ridged, the 745 is the new smaller one that has smaller capacities and i have no experience with.

why just the small DW and the full size Ridgid ...
can't the full size DW get no love?
I'd find the bigger DW recond'd for her to buy me

Ridgid.
Just bought the rigid myself. Love it!!!
The fence is awesome. Super smooth.
A bit of a bear to move around, but I don't have anything close to daily usage.
With sis footing the bill, you can't lose.
