Just curious what everyone typically uses as underlayment for their sheet vinyl.
Years ago, there was some stink about luan, so I’ve never used it. Typically use B-C or A-C ply (whichever is cheaper). Either 1/4″ or 1/2″ (depending on subfloor).

Luan is out...5mm Baltic Birch in 4x8 or 4x5 sheets is now standard here. It has 5 plys and no voids with marks for fasteners (usually narrow crown 18ga staples).
What does a 4x8 sheet run?

Forget the primal scream, just ROAR!!!
The standard here is actually particle board underlayment. Thats what I see most builders using. I've been using the Birch ply for a couple of years and that seems to be what the better flooring companies are using. Last year it was about $20 for a four by five sheet.

For the current fun, I just went with my standby. BC. The nearly 1/2" was actually cheaper than the just over 1/4", but the just over 1/4" looked cleaner, so I went with it.
And what the HE11 every happened to 1/4", 1/2", 3/4"?!
Sheeze, 3/8", 19/32, 23/32... think they dang CDN's are trying to make the math so hard on us that we'll cave and accept mm's.
