This kitchen remodeling was modest in scale (205 sq. ft.) and limited in budget, but the homeowners’ dream for a fresh, modern and open kitchen was steadfast. After several setbacks with others, they hired Newland Architecture to help them transform their dream into a buildable reality. After studying the kitchen design using 3D virtual building modeling, it soon became clear that the project could be realized and fulfill their goals. E.L.F. Construction was then hired to coordinate the work.
Because one of the homeowners has physical disabilities, great care was taken to address ergonomics and ease of use. And because both homeowners have a keen design sense and strong perfectionist tendencies, the design and construction process was exacting.
Although the project had its share of surprises and challenges along the way, the collaboration endured and was ultimately successful. The homeowners are thrilled that their dream kitchen is now a daily source of enjoyment.
