Fine Homebuilding’s First Virtual Summit
We may not be able to gather together in person, but that doesn’t mean we can’t join together online. On Oct. 26-29, 2020, Fine Homebuilding–along with Green Building Advisor and Keep Craft Alive–will bring together building-industry experts, influencers, and select manufacturers to share their knowledge and insights through an intense, online collaborative learning experience. This event will feature 14 experts from various fields, each presenting on topics within their area of expertise, all in service of the same agenda: building better homes. While the world has changed and we are not able to meet in person, we still want to gather to share learnings and discuss the topics we are passionate about within the building field.

Wednesday – The Future is Now
Thursday – Mechanical Madness
In addition to ample time for networking, each of the 4 days will kick off with a keynote presentation followed by 3 types of sessions:
Insight Sessions: This is the main forum for the exchange of ideas at the Summit. It is the coming together of experts from various facets of the industry to present on a topic within their area of expertise. Speakers have 15 minutes to present their topic to the audience. Some presentations are controversial. Some challenge what we think we know about how homes work and how they should be built. All are thought provoking.
Breakout Sessions: This is the in-depth portion of the Summit. Attendees have their choice of multiple seminars for each 90-minute block of Breakout Sessions. Each industry expert will present a focused study of a specific topic, with ample time for audience Q&A and discussion. All will qualify for AIA continuing education units (CEUs). Some of this year’s topics include:
|• Does Advanced Framing Make Sense?
• Rethinking Hot Water
• A Case for Double-Stud Walls
• The Final Word on Vapor Barriers
Round Table Sessions: New this year, we will finish off each day with a Round Table, where Fine Homebuilding editors and experts gather around to share, discuss, and debate the learnings of the day.
