In reading Emanuel Silvas excellent article on Decking Over a Roof (November, 2014 #246) I have one suggestion. When I built a deck over an existing stoop, most of the deck was constructed using traditional methods. When I came to the existing 3’x 4′ concrete stoop I needed some tapered sleepers. Instead of ripping pressure treated lumber as Silva did, I used Trex. This material will not warp or rot as wood wlll do over time. There are several other brands of composite wood alternatives out there that would work just as well.
