Circular Motion
comments (2) November 13th, 2009 in Project GalleryThis semi-circular island was created to delineate the kitchen from the adjacent living and dining rooms. It houses a custom curved stainless steel sink, dishwasher, and recycling drawer. The cabinets are constructed of cherry with birch panels for a contrasting look. These two woods were chosen for their similar grain patterns. The island’s higher level is wrapped in green-stained bead board and topped with a solid cherry counter. This higher bar is not only great “hanging out” space, especially when entertaining; it also serves as a barrier to hide messy kitchen activity from the living room.
