Portable tool storage for the small tools you always need and can’t seem to find
I have a small carpentry business on the eastside of Seattle Wa. As I get older I’m always thinking of ways to work more ergonomic. I have a small trailor and it seems there are small items I always need and am searching through my shelves and boxes trying to find. I had an idea to build a small box that could attach to my trailor door. I went down to the local arts and crafts store and purchased some blocks of foam, I built the container around the foam. I simply place all my chisels, nail sets, files, screwdrivers and any thing else that is small in the foam. I just open up my trailor door and there it all is right at my finger tips. I made the box out of some scrap 3/4 poplar ply and installed it right at chest level, no more getting on my knees and crawling through my bins. When or if the foam wears out I just pop in some new blocks of foam. As you know we get alot of rain in seattle so I made it detatchable so I can just pop out a screw and remove the tote if needed. I had to laugh at myself when I finished making this, my wife said you are not getting any younger are you? Ha Ha!. Hope this might be of some help for someone else out there.
