While using a floor sander recently, I threw the cord over my shoulder to keep it out of the way. The cord kept slipping off, though, so I attached a carabiner (the cheap kind you buy for your keys) to the back belt loop of my pants and ran the cord through it, then up over my shoulder. The cord never slipped off my shoulder again. Now I use it any time I need to keep a cord out of my way.

A very useful tip. Thank you. Working with my router and other power tools makes this an excellent working habit to get into.
Hope you never lose control of your power tools! Some clueless helper stumbles over your extension cord, and you could wind up with a face full of whatever machine it is that your holding!
