Schluter Systems has expanded its lineup of building products with the new DITRA-HEAT that combines an uncoupling membrane with an electric heat system. The DITRA-HEAT system is designed to allow easy installation of cables throughout the floor or just part of the floor layout, if desired.
At only 1/4″ thick, it’s also designed to be as thin as possible. This means you can build a floor with heat without creating a complicated build due to thickness being added. And, you get all of the benefits of using an uncoupling membrane. DITRA-HEAT, a polypropylene membrane, is, as you’d expect, waterproof and is described to minimize the transmission of vapor. It is also designed to prevent cracking in the grout or tiles.
Schluter currently has the product available in rolls and sheets. The heating cable is available in 120 V and 240 V, and two thermostats are available, one non-programmable and programmable.
