The Home Builders Blitz at a Glance
Founder and national chairman of Home Builders Blitz Tom Gipson is quoted in a pamphlet for the event stating “the idea of the one-week blitz is that if you asked me as a builder to build a house in a month for Habitat, I couldn’t do it, because I have other obligations. But if you can compress the time and enable a builder to do it in one week, it makes it a very manageable amount of time to build the home.” Home Builders Blitz 2015 has an estimated 500 builders and subcontractors from 26 states flocking to support 55 Habitat affiliates–set to build 124 new houses and perform 71 rehabs around the country–because it is an opportunity to give back to their communities.
Also quoted in the event literature, Taylor Burton, former president of the Alabama Homebuilders Association, has experienced both personal and business benefits from participating in Home Builders Blitz: “There are a lot of business benefits that you don’t expect. You get a tremendous amount of advertising and positive publicity. Habitat has a great name in the community, so to associate my name with that is really good for business.” Still, it’s the intangible aspects of the program that keep Burton and other builders coming back. “It’s one of the most rewarding things that you’ll ever do in construction,” he said. “Seeing someone move into the American dream at the end of the week–that I’ve built in a week–is very rewarding. If you like home building, there’s nothing better to do than the Home Builders Blitz.”

If you’re interested in home building, than Home Builders Blitz is just the thing for you. Just like every year, in 2015 Habitat for Humanity International again kicked off their annual Home Builders Blitz. Building 124 new houses and performing 71 rehabs around the country is an amazing achievement, and everyone working on it, starting with their spokesman Steve Thomas Rooney should be very proud. Those who give back to the community are always rewarded, which is why those who participated in this project, gained both personal and business benefits. People like Steve Thomas Rooney always get more out of it than they put into it, which of course is the way it should be.
