Been looking at the Hitachi’s …………. Amazon has a deal going (20% off $299 or more) which would put the C10FSH at the door for $360. How does it fare against the Makita, Bosch, and DeWalt? TIA

I have had a 10" Hitachi sider for almost five years now.
It's been a solid performer the whole time. And it was dead-on square right out of the box. And for me, it's big enough, yet not so heavy that I hate loading it up.
Politics is the antithesis of problem solving.
Good deal on a great saw, it's probably the overall favorite over the others. I'd buy it (have two, actually).
I've been working my Hitachi 10" SCMS hard for over ten years now and it still provides better cut quality than any other saw I have tried...amazing really. It was perfect out of the box and has never needed any adjustment--ever--still dead-on.
I will buy another Hitachi if mine ever dies.
Hitachi
i use the makita, the older single bevel bosch, and the hitachi regularly and no question i'd go with the hitachi

I'm a DW guy myself but have extensively used the Hitachi and the Makita. Both of them are very solid performers. Bosch I hear is good but I've hardly ever used it.
It really comes down to a matter of your own personal choice, and then you just get used to whichever one you have.
Sounds like a good deal, and I would go for it.
DeWalt does not have a 10" slider.
They have an 8 1/2" slider, single bevel.

I have that dewalt 8-1/2". Made in Italy. very nice saw. Has always been accurate, light enought to carry around, cuts a 2x12."Put your creed in your deed." Emerson
"When asked if you can do something, tell'em "Why certainly I can", then get busy and find a way to do it." T. Roosevelt
I almost bought the 8 1/2" DW last month but the deal was so good I got another 12" slider, it came with a stand and 2 extra blades.
The 8 1/2" is a very nice saw, If it was a double bevel, it would definately be in my tool bin.

I never liked the Hitachi. Has a plastic fence cover that seemed to have play. The motor is mounted 90 degrees to the blade and gets in the way on bevel cuts. The bevel gauge is hard to read, the numbers are raised but painted over. The table is small (maybe only 6" deep) so cutting wide boards can be annoying as they just fall off after the cut. Does have smooth slide and powerful motor.
I got a Makita 10" SCMS (LS1013) when it first hit the market. Now I have two and most every carpenter I know has one. I have never had a problem with it. It was perfect square out of the box, has taken alot of abuse and ran miles of trim, is still perfect square. It is larger than the Hitachi and probably weighs more.
I hope that helps

I've used and abused my 10" Hitachi for three years now. Great saw. Go for the laser, guarantee you'll like it even if you don't think you will.
Also have a 10" single bevel Bosch. Decent saw but heavy. Have used the new 10" double bevel Bosch. Very nice saw, don't think it would stand up to much abuse though with all the toys it has on it.
Dewalts are ok. I have a 12" slider that's good for framing or tall crown. Too much play though and there is always something breaking on it.
Haven't used the Makita much.
i have a bosch 10" dual compound slide miter saw. i love it, but i also use a hitachi. i think the hitachi is a more versatile saw. i wouldn't want to be framing with my bosch:)
