I saw a Porter Cable #3802 saw the other day and was very impressed with the operation, Miter scale with vernier scale, and bevel scale. I almost bought the thing untill I picked it up. I think I pulled something. I was ready for the 37 lb Dewalt. This beast weighs about 56lbs. I was still very impressed with the saw and was wondering if anyone has one and uses it every day for precision trim work. The construction seams to be far superior to the Makita and Dewalt.

No, no no no this won't do. That saw is nothing more than a dressed up Delta. Get the Makita, you'll more than love yourself for it. Set it up with a nice set of extensions and a good blade and you're all set to play. Just my opinion though - Nick
*Have the Makita 1220 -- love it. Lots of power. Good controls/adjustments. Bad standard issue blade. It gets some use framing, but with a quality finish blade, it does excellent finishing cuts (with a little help from the user.)Don't know about the PC. What I do know is that I don't like the Delta and, like Nick said, it is what the PC design is based on. Good luck. LJ
*I've got the PC, and I like it a lot. It is smooth and stable.Just like you said,it is heavy, but the smooth operation makes up for it once you get it out of the truck.I haven't used all of the Makitas, but the PC is definitely a better saw than the DeWalt (IMO). If it is just a dressed-up Delta, then it's the Unisaw of miter saws, not the benchtop junker.
*I have the Makita, and it's sweet. With a quality blade in it, it's the best miter saw I've used.
*If your going to transport this thing from job to job, get the Dewalt. We have two of them and they are great. The Dewalt chop saw stand is the best for portable work also.It really depends on what you plan to use the saw for, in shop or in the field, weight, features and benifits.
