how do you guys deal with metal jams that hang 1 hr rated wood doors set in wood framing…ie: 2×6 wood stud wall 5/8 rock on ea side of wall… one piece frames or split metal frames?… most that i’ve dealt with were 1pc where u slid the drywall behind the metal and just caulked the edges…. which means we set the jams first and framed to em… ideas? i have 20 of these to do….
as always thanks in advance

ponyti,
I use knock down frames. Two sides and a head. The frames come with clips that snap into the bottom of the jambs and you run several screws into the framing, drywall and all, the baseboard will hide the screws. Then, there is an adjustable expander at the top on both sides that adjusts the frame plumb. (it pushes against the framing behind) I've hung hundreds on them. If you want a manuf. I may have a website for you.
Hope I helped. Also I think you only can get 30 mins. with a wood jamb. Not 100% on that though.

cool deal... yeah if u have a web site that'd be cool... i assume they make a jam that'd cover 7" wall thickness 2x6 wall 5 1/2 + 5/8 +5/8 ? do u frame the rough opening tighter than u would for all wood? on a few commerical deals i've done we used the 1pc jam set the jams first fastened to the concrete floor then built to em... slid the drywall behind the jam and caulked....
son of a son of a sailor.... can't tell u how many times i've listened to that song while ride'n my bike down to the keys... nothing like cruise'n down the 7 mile bridge water on both sides warm ocean breezes...shorts & a teeshirt know'n it's 20 degrees back home...good friends all grin'n know'n that life is good....
