I need a new 24 Vac door chime and am having a very difficult time finding one. It needs to look good since its in the front hall.
The box stores seem to only sell 16vac models.
Anyone have a source? It can’t be this hard. Most of the ones I’ve found are 16 v.
Thanks !

The 16V ones will probably work OK on 24V, so long as no one holds the button in too long. Or, if necessary, you could add a resistor (or, better, some sort of coil) in series with the chime to drop the voltage.
Buy the one you like and replace the 24 vac transformer. The chime will probably come with a transformer. Running a 16v chime on 24v could make the spring loaded solenoid thumper not work correctly and hence not sound right. If the button were to stick it would surely burn the chime up in short order.
Yeah, I can change out the transformer, if I can find it. I think its in the breaker box. I was hoping for an easy swap though.
Usually it's a lump on the outside of the box.
