I built a deck at home last summer and this summer it looks pretty bad already…. the 5/4 deck boards are splitting quite badly…. not major splits but a lot of little splits. I’ve never had this degree of problem with the old type PT but this is my first time with ACQ.
Any of you notice different properties with ACQ vs the old stuff?
Maybe it’s just me.

Pete,
Is the underlying wood the same quality? (Of course, how could you really know for sure?) I am also interested in the experiences others have had.
I never used PT for walk surface even in the old CCA days, because it splintered too much. Out West, much of the PT is douglas fir, which is splintery stuff when weathered. Furthermore, pressure treatment seems to "kill" some of the wood's good properties.
