I need some advice on the best way to add insulation to an existing roof made from 2×4’s and how would be the best way to vent it ? The house is in western Mass. so it gets very cold. The attic also is a bedroom. What about SIP’s? Is there a product out there to create a vent channel under the SIP’s? Or can you just use a 4 in. foam panel with 2×2 sleepers underneath for a vent channel. And how would you shingle that? I have a budget(like every other person in the country rite know) so I need some creative solutions that will meet local codes. Help is appreciated, thanks ,Bco

you can get "vented" sip (sorta) panels that lay on top of an existing structure, are "asphalt shingle friendly"... which in and of itself is a little bit confusing.. but anyhow:
