Planning addition to existing house. The existing house is a simple one-story gable. The addition will also be one story with a simple gable that will be perpendicular to the existing house gable. Want to frame a California valley – strip off house roofing down to sheathing and extend addition roof framing right on top of house sheathing. So here is my question: Can I cut away just enough existing house roofing in such a way so that I can slip some additional felt and a metal valley underneath without having major repairs? Any suggestions on cutting nails and the appropriate layers of felt and valley flashing? The roofing material is concrete shake tile – expensive and difficult to work. Thanks! Quincy
