I’ve had an airless spray painting rig for about 10 years. I use it to paint interiors of vacant homes and exteriors. I buy fixer uppers and paint 2-3 homes per year.
I estimate the amount of paint needed and do not want to underestimate.
If I come up short I have to stop what I’m doing, let the equipment sit with the paint drying, go to the store, and finally, pray that the new paint matches.
Ideally the extra paint is one gallon or less, but that just doesn’t happen. Problem is I end up with sometimes as much as 3 gallons too much paint.
Do you guys have this problem?
How do you handle this?

The exact same thing happens with our projects. The lighter color paints are kept for use as a "primer" over new drywall or as a first coat on existing walls. The darker colors are simply left with the homeowner or donated to Habitat.
