We have to build a set of exterior stairs down to a basement doorwall. The pit is lined with solild block and needs a rail.
I’m looking for suggestions to anchor it. I’ve ruled out toenailing it with 10d cut nails.

I would probably use Tapcons or bolts with lead anchors.

What kind of railing brackets will you be using? Maybe you could mount a PT 5/4 x 6 board on the wall with Tapcons and adhesive, then screw the brackets to the wood.

Blue, if the design permits..........
Get these Ives commercial aluminum handrail brackets. One bolt in the middle, comes with lead shield anchor. What they're made for.

I see someone else has the same problem/thread going.
My biggest concern is with the rail that will mount on top of the pit wall. I can anchor the rail into the house on one end but it will run about 10 feet before it turns and heads down the stairs.
All design options are open at this point and the homeowners are leaning toward using synthetic decking materials for the stairs. I'm just trying to figure out what type of anchoring system I can use to make sure this rail is stable.
