Hello all,
I need to purchase screens for the windows in my almost new house. They are the ubiquitous Andersons and of course I have to buy them seperately. Does anyone here know where I can order them from, besides Home Depot who I will not deal with. I’m located in Maryland and have talked to the local rep who can order them for me, at full list of course.
Any ideas?
BTW, this forum was a great resource during the building of the house…

You are a wise man times three.
1 - Not going to HD
2 - getting advice here at BT
3 - waiting to buy screens until the construction phase is finished
There is a dealer locator at the Andersen website. Fourth button down on the left...

I called Andersen, they'll sell screens directly. Was about the same price as Home Depot + shipping.
Why didn't you buy the screens with the windows, and get the discount? They are readily taken off and stored safely until the end of the job. Andersen and their dealers love guys like you.
Mr. M
Anderson screens are shipped seperately from the window thereby making the job of taking them off a new window impossible.

Well, there ya go, another labor savings! You do get the truckload discount, right, when they come up front with the job? Around here we use Canadian-made windows, and the screens are mounted in the units when delivered.
Umm, my house is 12 years old, painting it, got froggy and threw the last three screens without lowering them carefully to the ground, ripped one, need new one. Wanted to buy the screen material, no one (that I could find) sold the piece that holds the screen in the screen frame.
Could have kicked myself.

I think the real question for you is why pay full list price plus shiping to buy direct fom Andersen when a stocking dealer will probably sell them to you at discount with no shipping added.
I'm assuming the answer is convenience. You picked up the phone and dialed an 800 number, gave them another number with an expiration date on it, and the screens arrived right at your door a week or so later. Right?.

Thanks for the info. I was after exactly that, in independent dealer that I could go and pick them up from, inspect any for problems before taking them home, and have someone to stand behind what they sold me.
The exact opposite of buying from Home Depot or online. Although buying online is fun, and Home Depot sucks. But I digress...
BTW, does anyone know a source for design information regarding built in seating as would be found in a built in breakfast nook for example? Looking for recommended dimensions, clearances, elbow room recommendations etc....
-Thanks, Fred
Fdebaugh, Take a tape, pencil, and paper and a good looking woman out to breakfast. Sit in the booth. Get the homefries and my all time favorite, poached on wheat. Links or patties. best of luck.__________________________________________

Yep, with a 50 mile round trip to a dealer, the difference in price isn't such a big deal.
I think that Lumber 84 is a Anderson dealer. There are a bunch of them around Maryland.
Thanks, appreciate it.
Ken that's called list price.
Also available at any Anderson Dealer. If you want the screens you gotta pay the price.
