just had my pool winterized last week.....blew out the lines and took the pump out....covered it.
They were spose to clean it but I don't think they did.....I was too busy framing to look that day.....need to peel the corner of the cover up.
I have no idea about pools until I inherited this one. Seems the new returns I dug for them to put in may be leaking as the water goes down an inch a day or better until its just below the returns.....grrrrrrr.

so what did they do to the pool......knock the whole thing down and start over or major repairs?
How'd it get that way...frost?
You know of any good simple books that explain how to take care of pools through out the seasons?
Be well

I'll work on your last request but for the other questions......
these are major repairs that I've been asking the city to help with for the last four years. They have finally come through and started the work.
The pool is 30 years old and so the upper foot to two feet of wall around the pool needs to be fixed or replaced after years of frost.
The skimmer, return and vaccuum lines are also 30 years old. The pumps and filters were replaced about 6 years ago, so they are fine. However the pipes make the system work harder than needed as they are the wrong size for the filters, as well as with settling of the deck, no doubt they are squashed and futher restricted.
This summer I lost the vaccuum lines to either a blockage or a break.
As for the side of the wall that you see completely torn out, that is were the wheelchair ramp is going.
The Main drain was an added bonus the city decided needed to be done. I didn't ask for it nor did I think it needed to be done. But I'll take it.
