The new house was supposed to have a Lenox hot water / forced air furnace that also supplied the hot water. But the heating contractor had to be dumped as a no-show. The alternative was a Carrier / Slantfin contractor [rural area with few choices]. He proposed Carrier AC, Carrier forced air for the upper level and Slantfin boiler for the radiant heat in the lower level, plus a hot water heater.
Two questions: Does anyone have any experience with Slantfin [it is a Prodigy 21 model], problems, successes? and Is there an advantage to using the boiler to heat the household water as opposed to stand-alone water heater.
