Are your 10 yd Dumpsters really 10 yds? We had a 10 yard container delivered this morning and thinking I was loosing my eyesight it looked so small I measured it and it came to only 8 cubic yards (32″ x 82″ x 143″). When did the sizing on dumpsters go nominal and why didn’t I get the memo?

Think they got to be expecting that everybody packs 'em in with the backhoe bucket, so 'loose' it still is 10 yards??
I know it doesn't make sense, but my dumpster co. told me that the dimensions are to the outside of the dumpster.
Just over fill a little.

It turns out you are very correct. Measuring it again today I've learned that 10 CY is a nominal measurement. Over on JLC Jon Blakemore pointed out to me that "If you add 4" to the height and 8" to the width and length, you get 10 CY." My partner seems to think that when we asked for 10s in the past our usual guy gave us 12s becuase that was what he had available.
Dont you get charged by the weight when they dump the 10 er 8 yd bin? How much does it cost you..lets compare fees. $32 ton here.

my 16ft x 8ft x 5ft sides dump truck I pay $66 per load and the c&d landfill is less than 40min round trip.. and places to eat along the way so... just an extra 20min added to lunch... I've used 1/2 a tank of diesel in 18 months... and dumped at least 30 loads....

Ponytl ,
Those dimensions come out to almost 24 yds is that right and where and what is the c&d dump?
I use Frank rd dump(eplex) and they charge 5$ a yrd with a minimum of 4 yrds.

I go to Jimmy T Woods... next to behind the police impound lot old harvester area...
easy in & out... but hard on tires.... 2 flats in maybe 40 trips
p
Consider yourself lucky,I get at least 3 nails every trip and have to fill my tires every day I use my trailer. In fact just yesterday I replaced 2 tires one was pretty worn with a big bolt i knew I couldn't plug so take that to tire store for new one, while I have the jack out decide to go ahead and plug the other 3. First 2 just a couple plugs third used 3 plugs still had leaks go to store get more plugs and come back and find gash that plug won't hold 4-5 more punctures. p..... me off so take that one to tire store and now have 2 new rear tires.
Are you talking about the police training area off of 51 in Frayser I didn't know there was a dump there.

In Denver area I pay 180 for a thiry yrd with no additional fees. I can keep em about a month and then they want to turn, but that works . Call and ask for a discount. If ya do enough volume most haulers will help ya out.

$205 for 10 yd (more like 12), $225 for 15 yard, $265 for 20 yard. All delivered and pickedup.
You think thats bad. That 10 yard concrete truck only carries 8 1/2 yards!
If it wasn’t for the Bank Payments,
Interest, Taxes, Wages, and Fuel Costs,
I wouldn’t have to charge you!!
Maybe so, but you still only pay for 8-1/2 when ordering a full truck, right?

11 yd dumpster, $75 a week. $17/ton. 1 pickup a week included. Looking at what everyone else pays, I feel like I'm getting the deal here.

It's been awhile, but the last time I got a dumpster....a 30 yard dumpster was $285. If I kept if for more than ten days, it was $5 per day. If I put more than five tons in it, it comes to $29 per ton. An extra pull was $176. I've never done the extra pull.Rich BeckmanMarion, Indiana
All dumpsters are now measured in "cubic cubits"

My debris removal contractor charges $250 for a 28 yd truckload. They provide trash bins made of 2x4s & fencewire which they load either by hand or bobcat into one of their trucks, but they will pick up the trash from around my site too. When they load the stuff in their truck, they collapse the boxes. No weight limit. I wish I had more subcontractors who were as happy to have my business, and as prompt.
The project I'm on right now has a budget of $20,000 for trash with ~ $18,500 being spent thus far.
I'm so happy with this sub that I lobbied the PMs heavily so that the sub got 3 more such projects in the past month. For people of somewhat modest means, I'd think they would be very happy. They call me "sir" - not that I need that or even like it, but sometimes it feels good when you know they mean it.
