Well next month the little woman and I are throwing the bikes on the trailer and heading for the Asheville area. All of western NC is absolutely gorgeous. We’re looking for shouldn’t miss sights or attractions in the area. We’ve ridden the “Dragon” and the “Blue Ridge Parkway”. Any other suggestions?

The Folk Art Center has some neat stuff. Biltmore House, of course, if you haven't seen it. They'll be in the middle of the tulip festival when you're here. Mt. Mitchell, the highest point east of the Mississippi is 60 mi up the BRP. And if you don't arrange to stop in for a beer, I just might never speak to you again. I am in the city proper, and abut the Parkway.
Cloud,
Do I recall correctly that you can see the (distant) Biltmore from your house?? That is a beautiful area. If I had gone there just a couple of years later, Cloud would have definitely been on the itinerary. Hopefully, there will be a next time!

Another day, another tool.
Yes, if my eyes were better I could see the towers of the chateau down in the valley about 8 miles as the crow flies. Need binocs now. I hope you do come back for a visit. We'll leave the light on for ya.
if u like are (Frescos) there are a couple of churches in Shetley Springs on US 16 that are georgeous. Find SS on the map, when u get there, just ask a local, they all know where they are.
If you are interested in A&C design (Craftsman, Mission) there is a hotle there that was built in that style and has lots of orginal furnituer. I can't remember the name, but if you are interested I can look it up.
Russ,
IMHO, Asheville is the best destination, East of the Mississippi, to take motorcycles. Good for you.
I lived in Greenville, SC for about 5 years. A great ride was heading north towards Caeser's Head on 276, taking 276 up to Brevard, then taking 64 down to Rosman and turning South on 178 till you hit SC 11. Take SC 11 East back towards 276, and you will go by Table Rock SP. These roads are not as good as the Dragon and BRP, but some sections are comparable. What I really like about the loop is it's a mix of the deep mountains and the meeting point of the Blue Ridge line and the Piedmont region of SC. Still, you really can't go wrong with the roads anywhere around Asheville.
As was mentioned before, the Biltmore (while pricey) is a great day trip. I love the woodwork in there.
