Insted of attaching the ledger to the house, can you support your structure from the ground up?
*Is there wood framing behind the brick? If so, drill thru and lag to that. If it's old, and two walls of brick, epoxy bolts, or lag and shield the ledger. Check if local code allows this. This came up here recently. I called the inspector to see if every inspection I've passed was right. His take, if the bricks are in good enough shape to take the load, and there's no other way.....gray area! Half the guys here said it can't be done......but we've been doing it this way for years. Beats the old way of leaving out a brick, and cementing in a wood nailer. Call the inspectors office, they've run into this before, and will know the best way for your area. Jeff
