Have a friend who I am helping finish an upstairs room. The room has two
short knee walls(2.5ft) and he would like to put nice built in cabinets/shelving along this long wall. Unfortunately it is also the logical place for the Baseboard heating elements.
The plumber wants to know if he should put them back against the knee wall
or out further. I definitely think they should go out where the base of the cabinets will start but I can not come up with a reasonably attractive finish detail on the cabinets.
Normal Slanfin is around 8 in high and thats abit high for a toe kick detail. On top of that I look on the Slant fin site but couldn’t find any specs, but I suspect you shouldn’t put something directly over the baseboard.
The best Idea I have is just put them flush with the cabinet front
and start the shelves and doors at the 8 or 9 in level. Hoping they blend in and don’t take to much away from the cabinets.
Anyone have any ideas?
I know a few of you will recommend radiant, I did too. I have it and love it, but haven’t convinced my friend to go the extra mile.
Also a bad experience with a toekick heater in his kitchen!!.
