Baseboard heating – need trim parts
Our house was built in 1975 with baseboard heating. Over the years, several of the stamped metal end caps have gone missing. I can not tell what brand I have (Slant Fin, etc) but I would like to replace some of the missing and ratty looking caps and splice parts. Any one know where replacement parts might be had?
Worse comes to worse, I could make the splice parts with sheet metal. For a replacement end cap I could use an existing one to get the end profile, cut it out of wood and combine it with some metal bent to the correct profile. Any suggestions welcome.

Supply houses often carry these parts. If you can't get them locally, this place
http://www.mscdirect.com
has Slant Fin parts.
IF you have 1 cap, look inside and the brand name will be on it.
Call your heating wholesalers until you find one that carries your brand-order your parts.
Worked for me on a house with 70's vintage bb heating. Tore all the covers out of the bedroom and replaced with new-under $250 for everything and it all fit.

Uhh, I did that first thing - there were no markings at all on any of the parts. The guy at the local supply house did not recognize the profile and the modern Slant Fin is no where close. Oh well.
I don't know if you're doing a house or a room-but if you order new
covers they come with new hangers...as long as you can fit the hangers to your existing fins-no problemo :. I did have to fit the new hangers and the covers "creatively".silver
