I have never bothered to get a quote for fencing. I live in a subdivision in an HOA community. Basic fences for the backyard are allowed and I am not looking for anything fancy beyond what the original builder might have employed for the subdivision’s perimeter fence (all wood, with post-to-post arch). BTW, this is for an area about 40-miles outside of Atlanta, GA.
When I moved into the community +5 years ago, I heard from other residents saying that contractors were charging ~$3K. Guesstimates were for their 1/4-acre lot along the back easement, and halfway along the side easements for the fairly ordinary shaped lots. I’m think this amounts to about 250-300 linear feet of fairly flat to mild graded lots. This was for installed fences (material & labor).
Recently, a homeowner with a lot on the perimeter of the subdivision claimed to have been quoted $5K for fencing just the sides of his lot. The sides were not long and the back or rear easement fence was already in place (builder installed). If I had to guess, he was looking at maybe 150′. This seems kind of high for a plain-jane 6′-8′ privacy fence. So, I was wondering what others might be charging or paying in equivalent market-economy locations (not CA or MA or D.C.).

I've installed wood fences for as little as $75 per section (8').
And I've intalled others for almost ten times that amount.
Unless you're the lead dog, the view just never changes.
