Other day Lowes advertised a sale on 7/16 osb at something like $6.59 a sheet or there abouts.
What got me was the ad signs in the store which read ‘WAS $7.23 NOW $6.59’.
Now I trip thru the area Lowes fairly regular and have kept an eye on the osb prices somewhat as a hobbie or sumthun I dunno,
but I know for a fact that the 7/16sOSB has been holding constant at $6.97 in that store for better than a month now with no change.
And suddebly they throw that ad price up there that says “WAS $7.23” and it has not been $7.23 for a looooong time.
Sure the osb has been $7.23 in the past sometime and that Ralph fella knows it was also $8 something at one time too.
And was $16 something at one time too if we want to get technical but we know what Lowes meant to convey by the sign saying was and now.
They lied.
be a new low for Lowes.

This is a limited time offer!
Have you credit card number handy and call 1-800- HEY-SUCKER !
So did you buy a couple dozen sheets to take advantage of that "deep" 5% discount?
:^)

It's like a gas station advertising gas "was 3.99 now 3.85". Thing of it is there's suckers who fall for it.
did you see the fine print where price of wood changes daily and the ads does not matter. true story HD does it too
think it's time to buy?
Not yet.
It's going the wrong way.
Just dropped here from $6.94 to $6.22
At this rate it will never get to my buy point of $8.00
Don't forget to look at the clearance table in the tool dept.
They had a corded hammer drill - Dewalt DW505 - marked down from $129 to $109.65. Been sitting there a couple of weeks.
Today I asked for the real price. They looked it up on their computer - $64.50
Got It.
Tomorrow starts a special coupon, handed out by store employees.
$10 off on $25 purchase. I'm lookin'. Got 4 coupons <G>
This may not be news to you. The world is full of lies, especially where any money is involved.

nah, been defrauded before. Nothing worth getting riled over.
It was that extra inch of trim the HomeTeacup made me pay for the other day when the piece was one inch over and I had to pay for two something since their measuring stick deal is incremented in a decimal system.

So your going to let them push you around like that? You felt strong enough about it to start a thread here. I say you should boycot them. Show em who the king is.

If everyone who started a thread about something needed the qualifier of feeling strongly about it this place would get pretty bland quick.
be wondering if george ever did a quick kick?

Don't worry about me I'm just trying to get my tag line straightened out.

There maybe that will do it. Seriously. People start threads here all the time whining about big box stores just to whine. In your case it's just simple advertising strategy. just about every company does it. Been doing it since the start of advertising. Just because it's a hobby here to slam Lowes and Home Depot over the stupidest thing you probably felt that it would get some good travel. No biggy. At least you din't start at thread and go on a five paragraph rant about how a Lowes salesman was rude to you or didn't know how to read a framing square when you submitted it to him for an exam to qualify him to sell you a box of nails and therefore you were never going back there again.

Was a bold s!ttything to do giving a fake 'was' price tho'. Never seen Lowes resort to such brash trickery before.
At least they could have been more sly about it.

Pretty common thing here.
I'm actualy a little miffed at the new Lowes opening in a couple of weeks down the road. They hired most of the sale staff at our local lumberyard. Those guy are the worst in the area. They are the main reason I would drive twenty minutes to Lowes in Louisville for whatever I needed. I can't stand them.
But one bright spot. Lowes may have a manager or supervisor that cares enough to do something about them if the carry their lazy habits to the new store.

The Lowes here is pretty efficient all around with the work force. Slackers don't get to stay around too long.
I'm thinking the jobs are valuable in this high unemployment area and those that have 'em don't want to lose them.
Interesting to see board policy that everyone takes turns retrieving the carts from out in the parkinglot as you can see the boy grunts, sales girls, and the head managers each taking their turns.
turn turn turn
The job aint that easy. We are doing a fire system at a Home Depot in Lexington. I've spent a couple days there doing electric. That's a lot of walking in that big store. I'd have to have a pair of skate shoes.
