Bending Shower Rods

Has anyone had any luck bending odd shaped shower rods?

I have to bend one, the overall length is 6′-0″.
I picked up one of the standard 1″ dia chrome plated
rods and tried to bend it with an EMT bender, but
after I kinked it and cursed at it and threw it around
I figured there had to be a better way.
