While cement board may be heavier, is it a better material to use if I plan to tile my walls ? Otherwise, it would be 5/8 sheetrock.
It will be for my garage……….we’re going with tile top to bottom !

May we ask why you will tile all the walls of your garage?
Since it will - hopefully - not get wet, just plain ol' nekkid sheetrock will work ok. The next step up would be a layer of 1/4" hardiebacker.

if U are planning on hosing it down ...
I'd skin the drywall with some backerboard and thinset the wall tiles.
and if it's gonna get greasy then hosed down ...
I'd think epoxy grout for bullet-proof.

I've got drainage in the garage.....I'm planning to wash the car in the garage during the winter months and now I'm not waiting for the *sun to set* before I wash during the summer.
The walls won't be sprayed on but I do expect the occasional water spray to get on the walls.
