Anyone know of the best way to install 4″ perf drain through or under a footing? I am installing an addition and it will have a basement, below grade, and need to get the foundation drain into the sump pit. Put a stainless steel sleeve?, cast iron sleeve? PVC? Also, do I then need to put a support in the foundation wall, cmu lintel, other? to spread the weight over the pipe, if I use PVC? Any assistance would be helpful.

Hi There
If you're going to install a connecting pipe between your weepers and the sump pit, a 4"PVC is standard with a tee on the outside to connect the weepers to.
No you do not have to do anything regarding structural re-enforcement.
Make sure that your weepers drain towards the pit without interuption and with a min. slope of 1/8" to the foot.

*Joe has a good point. Don't invite the water in if you don't have to. His recommendation for transitioning the pipe is correct as well.
*Although it probably is better to locate the sump in a pit outside the foundation, FWIW, in my area (NW Ohio) they are always located inside the basement or crawlspace. Probably a regional thing.I've always wondered how you'd service the sump when its in a pit outdoors.Bob

*If you bring the drain into the sump pit, make sure you have a way to plug up the end of it. Imagine being down in the basement during a heavy downpour, and having your sump pump quit. The water from outside can fill up your basement rather quickly if the water has no place to go. Even if the pump is working, it can be overwhelmed if the water is coming in fast enough.
