Some of the nicest fixtures I've purchased were bought from Brass Light Gallery in Milwaukee. The quality of their work is excellent, and their alabaster shades are fabulous.
Another store that has nice fixtures is Rejuvenation Lighting in Portland, OR. Not as nice as BLG, but "pretty good stuff" at a pretty good price. Much better than what's available in typical retail outlets.
Both places have detailed catalogues, great showrooms, and helpful staff.
