I have a customer that has hand dipped all the cedar shingles to side his beach house and wants me to install them. I’ve worked for contractors in the past where we used 1 inch crown roofing staplers. Any recommendations short of nailing them all by hand? Time is short and we need to get it done. Thanks.

Don't take any short cuts like using crown staples. Use what the manufacturer recommends and the proper fastener for your area. If it is a beach house on the ocean, the salt air will cause regular nails and staples to corrode and stain the shingles. Recommend using stainless steel nails and only 2 nails per shingle

*Check out FHB Aug/Sept.1985 for a run down on sidewall shingling. If not available to you just follow the instructions on the bundles. Pretty straight forward job. Good luck, Skip
*we use hot dipped galv. 3.5 d shingle nails for hand nailing.. and SS ring-shank bostich 4d coil nails for our guns (bostich c83 ?)don't fit them (we are talking WHITE cedar , right?)just nail them up the slight irregularities will space them just right..watch your coursing exposure.. 16 inch WC max at 5 inch to the weather
