My wife and I want to apply a finish on our concrete patio (12’x 36′) and an adjoining carport. We would like input from forum readers as to recommended materials and readers’ experience in applying themselves. We saw one home in Del Webb’s Sun City near Georgetown, Texas. This one had a bricklike pattern around the borders of the driveway and front porch. Very nice.
Would appreciate you responses.

Bill, Whether you undertake this yourself or subcontract it, you may want to contact Bomanite or Increte on the Web for product or local contractor info. Locally, you could also talk to a concrete construction supply house. They usually can reccommend a competent sub with experience.

Billy,
I think the product you saw used is one much like the one I posted to Brian_3006 under "Grooved Concrete." It, Ultra-tex is made for either existing or new surfacing. Sounds like you have the former. I was not able to determine whether or not you wanted to redo your existing concrete or just add a border, but if you are redoing (topping it) then I'd say this is compatible.
