Hi,
I am a general contractor in ca. and have a client whose home I will be working on. He has decided that he wants a concrete floor in his raised floor bathroom(one story). I dont specialize in concrete but want to take what I can get right now. How can this be achieved with long term success? He mentioned that someone he knows put hardybacker down and poured on top of that. We would have a thick pour on top of that due to trying to line up with the wood floor.
Any special admixes or fiberglass reinforcement to make this questionable project a success?
Thanks

I have been researching a product called Tadelakt. It is a hydrophobic plaster used in showers, on countertops and floors.
On a floor, you would intall 1/2" Durock, then tape and smooth coat the Durock with modified thinset, and then apply the 3 coats of Tadelakt.
Here is a really trippy video of a guy applying Tadelakt on a wall:

I am currently on a job where we had to level the floor in a 8' x 12' bathroom. One end of the room was 1 1/2" higher than the other. We used about 10 bags of floor leveler over a concrete primer and stucco mesh that we stapled down. The floor is glass smooth, we never even pulled out a trowel. There is fine cracking, that I would find unacceptable as a finished surface, but there has to be a similar product that is fiber reinforced, specifically for the application you are seeking.
I am hoping someone posts an answer as this sort of thing is becoming popular thanks to the rise of modern design.
Thanks for the great article and the link to the video guys
